Detox Daily with Lemon Water

One of the easiest ways to detox daily is to start your day with warm lemon water. Lemons have long been a staple in a healthy, natural detoxification of the body and simply adding lemon water to a diet of whole, unprocessed foods can do wonders.

I know you’ve heard or read about this habit a lot, yet most people I know don’t do it. But starting your day with lemon water helps stimulate your liver -the main detoxing organ in your body. Lemon water also increases your fat burn by improving your digestion. Lemons are high in vitamin C and help fight cell damage, inflammation, and strengthen your immune system among other benefits.

Fit tip: You can boost your fat burning by adding a little cayenne pepper powder. This can be very beneficial in helping fight food cravings. It helps burn your body fat by boosting your metabolism (like most spicy foods), it enhances blood circulation and is high in Vitamins A, C and B complexes and potassium.

Another great alternative is to add chia seeds to your lemon water!

Chia seeds are very good for your bowel health and they swell up inside your stomach, helping you to feel full longer. They are high in fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, protein, calcium, iron, and magnesium. They also contain vitamins B1 and B3, which are essential to a properly functioning nervous system. Plus chia seeds contain an abundance of antioxidants!

Here is an easy recipe you can try:

  • 1 glass of water
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • A pinch of cinnamon powder

Combine all ingredients in a glass. Whisk the chia seeds until well incorporated. Leave the mixture for 5 minutes and then sip slowly.
